Indian Air Force is one of the best organizations that empower the young youth and ignite the young brains like me to be a part of it. Being a Fauji Brat, born and brought up in this defence environment and moulded accordingly, it is my dream to be the next generation officer in the family. I appeared for AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) in Feb 2019 and July 2019 and cleared it both the times. The level of AFCAT exam is not that hard and a person can easily crack it with the proper smart study.

Areas I worked upon:

• Numerical Ability: Comprises of 18 questions in all. I practised Quantitative Aptitude from R.S. Aggarwal which comprises questions on Percentage, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Average, Pipes and Cisterns, Work and Time, Distance-Time problems on the vehicle, train/boat or streams, Number system, Ratio and Proportions, etc.
• English: Comprises of 25 questions. I went through previous year papers and practised this: Comprehension Reading, Error Detection, Sentence Completion and Cloze test, Antonyms and Synonyms, Idioms and Phrases, etc.
• Reasoning Aptitude (Verbal and Non-Verbal): Comprises of 32 questions. This consists of questions based on Analogy verbal and non-verbal, Odd one out, Venn Diagrams, Number series, Military aptitude, Classification, Pattern Completion, Series non-verbal, Embedded figures, Logical sequence of words, etc. It is the mix of questions with figures, numbers and words. I practiced it online on websites like Indiabix and Testpot, and through book R.S. Aggarwal Verbal and Non-Verbal Aptitude.
• General Awareness: Consists of 25 questions based on history, polity, geography, sports, basic science, defence, national and international current affairs, books etc. For this, I prepared from the Lucent’s GK book and through online sites. Also referred to monthly magazines like Pratiyogita Darpan and regular newspapers.

AFCAT majorly covers most of the portion and exam pattern is quite static. Hence with proper dedicated study, it can be cleared several times with a good score.
