Jungle and Snow Survival School is one of the top training facilities of the Indian Air Force. Flight Engineers, flight gunners, and pilots of the IAF are imparted with the training here.
If a pilot or a gunner needs to eject in such circumstances and in the event of a forced landing, crash landing, or ejection over a jungle or a snowy area, training in such survival skills is provided.

The School was founded in Sonmarg, J&K, in 1963 and later it was shifted to Dalhousie in 1994. Later the institution was permanently located in Kasauli in 2013. The Fundamental and advanced survival skills needed in the event of a crash landing or ejection in either peacetime or war are taught to the trainees.
The majority of the IAF pilots successfully complete this course to become fully operational fighter pilots. Theoretical and practical sessions are done together with the delivery of a land survival guide. The training session covers igloo construction, day/night survival, shelter construction, quick meal preparation using accessible ingredients, and rescue pattern signals.
