However, villagers and police officers discovered the pilots weary and moaning in pain on the ground. According to IAF and police officials, the pilots are 50-year-old Wing Commander Tejpal, the top trainer, and 28-year-old Bhoomika, the trainee. The jet took off from Bengaluru for a routine flight. “A Kiran trainer aircraft of the IAF crashed near Chamarajanagar, Karnataka today, while on a routine training sortie,” the IAF tweeted shortly after the event. Both pilots ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry has been established to investigate the cause of the accident.”

The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) HJT-16 Kiran is a two-seat Intermediate Jet-powered Trainer Aircraft designed and constructed for training purposes by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Villagers reported hearing a tremendous boom in the air and saw the plane crash into the earth. Meanwhile, the pilots were able to eject and land using their parachute systems. The impact of the collision caused the jet to crash three to four miles away from where the pilots had landed.

While the cockpit and steering gear of the jet was discovered near Mookalli, the rest of the plane’s smoking debris was discovered at the Bhogapura village burial ground. According to villagers and the police, Wing Commander Tejpal and Bhoomika were injured. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Chamarajanagar Rural Police Station, and rescue teams from Bengaluru arrived on the scene within an hour. Three to four IAF helicopters landed near the crash site and close to where the pilots had landed, with one of the helicopters airlifting the injured pilots to Bangalore.

A team of engineers and experts from HAL and the IAF is searching for evidence at the crash site and is in the process of extracting the Flight Data Recorder, also known as the Black Box, to determine the true cause of the disaster. The Black Box is an instrument that records all of the plane’s operations while it is in flight.

Last month, three people died after a MiG-21 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh. The fighter jet was doing a routine training sortie when it crashed. The pilot escaped unhurt and suffered minor injuries. An inquiry was launched to probe the cause of the crash. Two weeks after the crash, the Indian Air Force decided to ground the ageing fleet of Soviet-origin aircraft which have been involved in over 400 accidents since their induction. The entire fleet of MiG-21 fighter aircraft was recently cleared for flying operations after they had been grounded recently after a crash.
