An incident of violence erupted in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh when an Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel and his father were allegedly attacked by members of a wedding procession. This confrontation arose after the duo objected to the disruptive behavior of the participants, who were reportedly drinking and causing disturbances on the road, according to police reports and complaint documents.
The confrontation occurred on Thursday evening along the Amargarh–Jahangirabad road, near Amargarh village, as Pratham Singh, an IAF member, and his father, Jitendra Singh—who is a primary school principal—were returning from a family engagement ceremony.
The complaint filed by the victims described a chaotic scene where a large wedding procession, featuring loud music and a traditional ghudchadhi ceremony, blocked the road. Participants allegedly danced in the middle of the road while consuming alcohol, which led to a traffic jam. As Jitendra Singh attempted to alert the procession by honking his horn, tensions escalated into a verbal exchange.
The situation deteriorated rapidly when Singh and his son objected to the verbal aggression directed at them by the wedding guests. Following their objections, the participants allegedly retaliated violently, attacking the pair with sticks and iron rods, which resulted in serious injuries to both. They were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital and subsequently referred to a district hospital for further care.
In the midst of the assault, the victims reported that a wristwatch and a gold chain were also stolen.
Local police responded to the situation after being alerted, leading to the registration of a case against seven named individuals as well as several unidentified participants. One individual has already been apprehended and charged with breach of peace, while investigations are ongoing. Both parties have submitted their respective complaints to law enforcement.
A video capturing the brutality of the assault has circulated on social media platforms, gaining traction and drawing significant attention from both local residents and authorities in the region.
