IIT Gandhinagar Signs MoU With Adani Defence & Aerospace to Advance AI in Defence Sector

IITGN signed a MoU on Monday with Adani Defence and Aerospace, a subsidiary of Adani Group to collaborate in areas of emerging technologies, including AI, Machine Learning (ML), and Large Language Models (LLMs) for defence applications. The MoU aims to foster collaboration in research, education, and innovation in the areas of AI and ML for defence applications. The collaboration will encompass joint research projects, prototype developments, student projects, and joint workshops.

The MoU will also help to drive defence technology advancements through collaborative research and development.

Drishti-10

The Drishti-10 Starliner is an Indian medium-altitude long-endurance UAV based on the Israeli Elbit Hermes 900, manufactured by Adani Defence and Aerospace for the Indian Armed Forces. The UAV reportedly has an indigenous content of over 70%. Drishti 10’s integration into our naval operations will enhance our naval capabilities, strengthening our preparedness for the ever-evolving maritime surveillance and reconnaissance.

It boasts an impressive 36-hour endurance, a payload capacity of 450 kg, and holds the distinction of being the sole all-weather military platform with STANAG 4671 certification. Moreover, it is authorized for flight in both segregated and unsegregated airspace. The Drishti 10 ‘Starliner’ is India’s inaugural domestically developed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), based on the Elbits Hermes 900 MALE (Medium Altitude Long Range) platform.

Defence exports touch record Rs 21,083 crore in FY 2023-24

Defence exports have touched a record Rs 21,083 crore (approx. US$ 2.63 Billion) in the FY 2023-24, a growth of 32.5% over the last fiscal when the figure was Rs 15,920 crore. The recent figures indicate that the defence exports have grown by 31 times in the last 10 years as compared to FY 2013-14.
