India’s naval defense capabilities are poised for a significant upgrade with the introduction of advanced Man-portable Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (MP-AUVs) by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). This new generation of underwater vehicles, developed by the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam, aims to enhance the country’s ability to effectively counter underwater threats.
The MP-AUVs are designed to operate autonomously, which allows for both reconnaissance and operational tasks without the need for constant human control.
