India has initiated a significant tri-service military exercise named ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ in the challenging high-altitude environment of Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh. This exercise represents a critical advancement in enhancing the joint warfighting capabilities and technological integration among the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

According to Defence PRO Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, the primary objective of the exercise is to validate multi-domain operations that encompass land, air, and maritime components. This initiative reflects the evolving readiness of the Armed Forces to engage in technology-driven and future-oriented combat scenarios.

The focus of ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ is on integrated warfare and innovation, aiming to improve interoperability between the three branches of service through advanced networked command and control systems. The exercise will facilitate real-time data sharing and integrated mission simulations. It is designed to test new operational doctrines and decision-making frameworks that are specifically tailored for mountainous battlefields.

One of the key highlights of the exercise will be the coordinated deployment of special forces, alongside unmanned aerial and ground systems. The use of precision-guided weapons and AI-enabled data networks will also be integral, enabling the simulation of realistic high-altitude combat scenarios that the Armed Forces might face.

In addition to this, ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ aims to assess revised tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) in order to enhance combat agility, adaptability, and rapid response capabilities in extreme terrains. This exercise aligns with India’s broader initiative towards establishing a future-ready joint-force structure, designed to execute multi-domain operations seamlessly and efficiently.

Building upon previous successful joint exercises, such as ‘Bhala Prahar’ in 2023 and ‘Poorvi Prahar’ in 2024, this current exercise signifies a continuous effort to reinforce tri-service integration. Collectively, these exercises mark a determined push to enhance operational effectiveness along India’s sensitive eastern frontiers.

Lt Col Mahendra Rawat emphasized that ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ reaffirms the Indian Armed Forces’ commitment to operational synergy, technological modernization, and national defense preparedness. This exercise underscores India’s collective capability to respond promptly and decisively across all dimensions of warfare, bolstering its stance in the region.
