In a significant move aimed at enhancing support for veterans, the Indian Army has launched an advanced Single Window Clearance Facility at the Army Medical Corps (AMC) Centre & College in Lucknow. This new IT-enabled platform is designed to act as a centralized grievance redressal mechanism for over one lakh serving personnel, retirees, and veterans associated with both the AMC and the Army Dental Corps.

The initiative was officially inaugurated by Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, Commander of the Central Command, during his visit to the institution. Military officials expressed optimism that this system would reduce grievance processing times by nearly 40%, thereby increasing the transparency, accuracy, and efficiency of welfare administration for military personnel.

The AMC Centre & College has been a key institution for military medical education since its establishment in its current form in 1932. It plays a vital role in training officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) and personnel from allied foreign countries, preparing them to tackle the medical challenges presented in modern warfare, including complex counter-insurgency operations.

During his visit, Lt Gen Sengupta reviewed the training programs and infrastructure at the facility, praising the high standards upheld within the institution. He reiterated the Army’s steadfast commitment to the care of veterans, stating that the new facility embodies the core principles of “Seva, Samarpan, Sankalp” (Service, Dedication, Resolve). This reflects the Army’s ongoing efforts to empower its personnel and ensure long-term support for veterans.

Defence officials have indicated that the digital model developed in Lucknow could set a precedent that may be adopted in other Army establishments across the country, potentially transforming veteran-focused administration in the armed forces.
