The Indian Army has bestowed the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Unit Appreciation on its elite Special Forces units, 4 PARA (SF) and 9 PARA (SF), in recognition of their exemplary performance during Operation Sindoor. This prestigious award acknowledges their exceptional courage, operational excellence, and successful mission execution in particularly challenging conditions.
4 PARA (SF) played a decisive and high-impact role in Operation Sindoor, which was pivotal to its success. Colonel Rohit Suri, who has previously been awarded the Kirti Chakra, accepted the accolade alongside Subedar Major Sanjay Bisht, representing the battalion’s commitment to excellence.
Similarly, 9 PARA (SF) received the COAS Unit Appreciation for its outstanding operational achievements during the same operation. The award was presented to Colonel Deepak Kumar Upadhyay, a recipient of the Shaurya Chakra, along with Subedar Major Pafam Subbah. Their contributions have solidified the unit’s reputation for operational brilliance under fire.
