On April 27, 2023, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy successfully completed the inaugural test trial of the ‘ADC-150’ from an IL 38SD aircraft off the coast of Goa.
ADC-150 Air Droppable Container
The ‘ADC-150’ is a locally built and developed Air Droppable Container with a payload capacity of 150 kg. The trial was done to improve naval operational logistics capabilities by delivering crucial engineering supplies to ships (in distress) stationed more than 2,000 kilometers from the coast in a timely manner. It lowers the need for ships to approach the coast to collect spares and supplies.
