Applications are invited from unmarried eligible men & women candidates for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Information Technology (Executive Branch) of Indian Navy under Special Naval Orientation Course for course commencing Jan 2026 onwards at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates must fulfil conditions of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

  • Minimum 60% marks in English in Class X or XII, and
  • Minimum 60% overall qualifying marks in any of the following:
    • MSc / BE / B.Tech / M.Tech in
      Computer Science, Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Systems, Cyber Security, System Administration & Networking, Computer Systems & Networking, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence.
    • MCA with BCA / B.Sc (Computer Science / Information Technology).

Age Limit: Born between 02 Jan 2001 and 01 Jul 2006 (both dates inclusive).
Vacancies: 15 (Men & Women).

Note: NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders (Naval/Army/Air Wing) with minimum ‘B’ grade and at least two years in the Senior Division will get a 5% relaxation in cut-off marks for shortlisting.


Medical Standards

  • Candidates recommended by SSB must undergo medical examination as per Navy standards.
  • No relaxation in medical criteria is allowed.

Selection Procedure

  1. Shortlisting based on normalised marks in the qualifying degree.
  2. SSB Interview for shortlisted candidates (intimation via email/SMS).
  3. Merit List prepared based on SSB marks.
  4. Medical Examination and Police Verification before final appointment.

Training & Service Terms

  • Candidates will join as Sub Lieutenant.
  • Initial Training: Six weeks at INA, Ezhimala, followed by professional training at naval establishments.
  • Tenure: 10 years (extendable to 14 years in 2-year increments based on performance and service requirements).
  • Only unmarried candidates are eligible for training; marriage during training will lead to discharge and refund of pay & allowances.

Probation Period

  • Two years, starting from the date of grant of rank of Sub Lieutenant.
  • Unsatisfactory performance during probation can lead to discharge.

Pay & Benefits

  • Basic Pay: ₹56,100/- (Sub Lieutenant) plus applicable allowances.
  • Naval Group Insurance Scheme membership is compulsory.
  • Leave, gratuity, and other entitlements as per Navy rules.

  • Apply online at www.joinindiannavy.gov.in between 02 Aug 2025 – 17 Aug 2025.
  • Keep documents ready in JPG/TIFF format, including:
    • Proof of Date of Birth (10th/12th certificate)
    • Mark sheets (upto 5th/7th semester for BE/B.Tech; all semesters for completed degrees)
    • CGPA conversion formula
    • NCC ‘C’ certificate (if applicable)
    • Passport-size photograph
  • Take a printout of the application for the SSB interview.

Important: Any false declaration or possession/use of narcotics will lead to cancellation of candidature or removal from service.
