In a recent visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Surgeon Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai, SM, VSM, Director General Medical Services (Navy), conducted a thorough review of the medical infrastructure in the region. This visit included assessments of key naval establishments and healthcare facilities, underscoring the Navy’s commitment to delivering exceptional medical care in strategically important locales.
During her tour, Vice Admiral Sahai focused on the medical facilities located in Diglipur, where she evaluated the preparedness and operational readiness of various medical units. Engaging with the personnel, she acknowledged their dedication and efforts to uphold high standards of medical care for both service members and their families.
The tour also included visits to INS Kohassa and District Headquarters 9 (DHQ9). At these sites, the Vice Admiral praised the units for their thorough maintenance and proactive strategies in ensuring that essential medical services remain accessible, even in the more remote island areas.
Her itinerary further encompassed a stop at INS Baaz, which is situated at Campbell Bay and serves as India’s southernmost air station.
