The India Level III Hospital, previously classified as Level II Plus, has received a prestigious accolade from the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO). This honor comes in the form of a Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of MONUSCO Unit Appreciation, acknowledging the hospital’s exceptional professionalism, operational resilience, and significant contributions towards fulfilling the mission’s objectives.
Colonel Rajesh W Adhau officially received the citation during a Medal Day Parade on December 29, 2025. This recognition not only highlights the hospital’s operational capabilities but also marks a continuation of accolades following the Force Commander’s Unit Citation awarded earlier in March 2025.
The latest acknowledgment specifically notes the lifesaving medical care provided by the Indian medical team amidst challenging and often dangerous conditions. Notably, during heightened conflict in Goma, the team remained committed to delivering medical services despite considerable security risks.
Officials have remarked that this award reaffirms India’s longstanding commitment to medical excellence within the framework of United Nations peacekeeping missions. It showcases the Armed Forces Medical Services’ ability to provide high-quality medical care and humanitarian assistance in some of the most challenging environments around the globe, illustrating not just operational effectiveness, but also a dedication to humanitarian principles.
