In a recent statement, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, issued a stark warning regarding the evolving nature of India’s military response to terrorism emanating from Pakistan. Speaking to reporters in Jammu, Lt Gen Katiyar affirmed that if Pakistan continues its terrorist activities directed towards India, Operation Sindoor 2.0 will be “more deadly” than its predecessor.

The Lieutenant General emphasized that future military responses would surpass the level of destruction inflicted during the original Operation Sindoor. This initial operation, which took place on May 7, 2025, was a retaliation for the devastating Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. It involved targeted strikes on nine significant terror camps along the Line of Control and within Pakistan itself, with the goal of dismantling entrenched terrorist infrastructure.

“We will take actions that will outmatch the last operation,” Lt Gen Katiyar declared. He stressed that unless there is a fundamental change in Pakistan’s approach, such aggressive responses will continue. He indicated that the mantra behind Operation Sindoor 2.0 is centered on achieving a more severe impact.

Honorably acknowledging the collective efforts contributing to the successful completion of the first operation, the General cited the critical support received from local administration, ex-servicemen, and civilian populations. These groups played pivotal roles in the operational success, he noted. Lt Gen Katiyar made these remarks while addressing an ex-servicemen rally that commemorated 60 years since the 1965 India-Pakistan War, a moment he described as a testament to Indian resilience and patriotism.

Reflecting on historical contexts, the Lieutenant General recounted the failures faced by Pakistan during the 1965 conflict, highlighting the underestimated spirit of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. He pointed out that approximately 10,000 armed infiltrators, known as Razakars, were no match for the unified resistance demonstrated by Indian forces and local citizens. “The patriotism of the people was instrumental in repelling such forces,” he stated.

Lt Gen Katiyar’s comments underscore a critical message about India’s unwavering commitment to national security and the armed forces’ readiness to counteract any future threats posed by cross-border terrorism. As tensions remain high, the Indian military’s strategic planning appears geared towards fortifying defenses and ensuring a robust response to any acts of aggression from neighboring Pakistan.
