Instro Precision Technologies has announced the acquisition of a substantial contract valued at 16 million pounds (approximately $20 million) to supply further units of its XACT nv33 compact Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) to the British Armed Forces. This development comes on the heels of a previous delivery of 3,500 NVG units to British military personnel.
According to a press release issued by the Kent-based subsidiary of Elbit Systems UK, the new contract will be fulfilled in phases, marking an ongoing commitment to enhancing the capabilities of British forces. Martin Fausset, the CEO of Elbit Systems UK, emphasized that the company’s success in supplying these advanced night vision devices can be attributed to significant investments made within the UK. He reiterated the firm’s dedication to equipping troops with state-of-the-art technology to maintain a competitive operational edge.
The XACT nv33 Night Vision Goggles play a crucial role in modern military operations, enabling soldiers to function effectively in low-light and darkness conditions. The goggles are designed to be compact and lightweight, enhancing mobility and ease of use for personnel in the field. Their helmet-mounted configuration is tailored for better convenience, allowing for extended battery life and superior image quality, vital for nighttime operations.
Further enhancing their functionality, the XACT nv33 features minimal line-of-sight deviation and binocular design that supports single-handed operation, promoting efficiency during critical moments. The NVGs also come equipped with tilt-activation technology to ensure distraction-free operation, all while meeting the rigorous compliance standards set by MIL-STD 810, which governs environmental and durability requirements for military equipment.
This latest contract serves as a testament to the ongoing evolution of technology within the British Armed Forces, highlighting a strategic focus on ensuring that troops are outfitted with the most effective and reliable equipment to safeguard their operational success.
