Jaipur is poised for a historic event as it prepares to host the Indian Army Day Parade for the first time on January 15. This milestone event is aimed at enhancing the Army’s connection with citizens and will take place on Mahal Road, as confirmed by officials on Monday.

In a noteworthy departure from tradition, this year’s parade will occur outside an Army cantonment, allowing the general public an opportunity to witness firsthand the courage, discipline, and valor of the Indian Army. Attendees will also be treated to vivid displays showcasing the Army’s operational accomplishments, including a focus on the successful Operation Sindoor.

Kicking off the Army Day celebrations, a medical camp was held at the Military Hospital in Jaipur, specifically for ex-servicemen, war widows, and their families. The event saw participation from Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister, Diya Kumari, who served as the chief guest.

During her address, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, Army Commander of the South Western Command, emphasized the extensive veteran community in the region, which is home to approximately 3.7 lakh ex-servicemen and nearly 7 lakh dependents. He highlighted the challenges faced by this population, including around 31,000 heart patients and 16,000 individuals requiring orthopedic care, underscoring the necessity for continued welfare initiatives.

Lt Gen Singh remarked on the evolution of the Army Day celebrations, noting that until 2022, the parade took place solely in Delhi. Following an initiative from the Prime Minister, the event has been embraced in various cities including Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Pune, with Jaipur now added to this list. This shift demonstrates the Army’s commitment to connect more directly with citizens throughout the country.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari echoed these sentiments, calling the event a point of pride for Rajasthan. She emphasized that the safety citizens enjoy is a direct result of the vigilance and sacrifices made by the armed forces.

The upcoming parade in Jaipur is anticipated to attract significant public interest, with plans for a range of activities including ceremonial drills, marching contingents, military hardware displays, and operational showcases. This event aims not only to celebrate the traditions of the Indian Army but also to strengthen its bond with the community.
