When your path is destined, no matter what comes to you, you will achieve it. Jai Hind Aspirant, in this article, SSBCrackExams has bought you another motivational story through which every aspirant will push harder to achieve his goal. In this article, we will learn about the story of Prajwal Samrit who dropped joining one of the top two Business Schools IIM Kozhikode and IIM Indore to fulfil his father’s dream to become an Indian Army Officer.
Kargil Martyr’s Son Drops IIM to join IMA and Fulfil Dad’s Dream
Prajwal’s father, Lance Naik Krushnaji Samrit, was killed 45 days before his birth in the Kargil War in 1999. The Kargil martyr, a Pulgaon resident, wished for his eldest son, who was then 2.5 years old, to be commissioned as an officer in the Indian Army.
Prajwal is set to join the famed Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun as a gentlemen cadet in the first week of June, more than 23 July later. Prajwal took it upon himself to accomplish their father’s desire, which eventually became the wish of everyone in the family once his elder brother, Kunal, chose engineering. Prajwal, on the other hand, had to undergo nine service selection board (SSB) interviews to achieve his aim. “Because this was my final attempt, I needed to have a solid backup plan.” “This month, I passed the common admission test (CAT) and received offers from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore and Kozhikode,” Prajwal explained.
Prajwal’s mother, Savita (52), claimed that even though she lost her husband in the Kargil conflict, she was adamant that one of her sons accomplish his goal. “My husband wished for my older son to become an Army officer.” We hoped Prajwal could accomplish it since Kunal couldn’t. “I’m very proud,” she said.
Savita works as a data entry operator At the Army Hospital in Pulgaon. In 1991, she married Krushnaji. Before Krushnaji left for Kargil, the pair lived in Trivandrum, Belgaum, and Kolkata, according to his postings. Savita resided in Pulgaon near her parents’ house because Krushnaji’s parents had died. “We don’t know the exact date, but we observe his death anniversary on July 30,” Prajwal explained.
Prajwal dropped out after Std XII to prepare for the NDA entrance and passed the first SSB in 2018. “I was recommended but failed the medical test,” he explained. The same year he moved to Pune and took admitted to BSc at Fergusson College. “I made it to seven more SSB interviews. Each time I went past the screening and got conference out (exit). The reason was not mentioned,” he said.
Prajwal was about to give up after his eighth fruitless attempt when his neighbour Nitin Kothe encouraged him to try his final chance. “Many people had also forewarned him about the dangers of military life.” He was about to give up after 8 SSBs, but I begged him not to give up one more time. He has never failed an exam in his life. “He did everything on his own,” Kothe, a teacher at the Indian Military School in Pulgaon, said. Prajwal stated that he didn’t think for a second and chose the IMA offer over the top two IIMs.
