L3Harris Technologies has entered into a significant collaboration with Thales UK aimed at developing a comprehensive integrated short-range air defense command and control capability specifically for the UK armed forces. This partnership leverages L3Harris’ advanced target-oriented tracking system (TOTS) and combines it with Thales’ Agile C4I at the Edge system, resulting in a powerful enhancement of command and control functions.
With a combined experience of over 80 years in providing command, control, communications, intelligence, and ground-based air defense systems, the collaboration positions both companies as leaders in bolstering the operational effectiveness and safety of UK military operations.
L3Harris’ TOTS plays a crucial role in this initiative by integrating data from a variety of sensors and platforms, including radar systems and data links. This integration delivers a real-time operational picture that significantly enhances situational awareness for military personnel.
Thales brings its specialized expertise in the development of ground-based air defense systems to the project, having previously designed successful platforms such as ForceShield, RapidFire, and the man-portable Starstreak anti-aircraft system.
Ed Zoiss, President of L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems, expressed pride in contributing advanced technology to support the defense priorities of the UK.
