Italy’s leading defense contractor, Leonardo, has unveiled its latest innovation in artillery technology, the RH1-155/52 HITFIRE. This advanced weapon system is designed to enhance capabilities in modern warfare, featuring improvements in range, mobility, and precision.
At the heart of the RH1-155/52 HITFIRE is a state-of-the-art 155mm/52-caliber gun integrated into a turret that weighs under 13 tonnes (approximately 28,660 pounds). This configuration allows for superior maneuverability, enabling rapid deployment in various operational environments.
The system can carry up to 30 shells along with associated propellant charges, which it fires from a NATO-standard barrel. This engineering ensures not only stability but also high accuracy over extended distances, marking a significant advancement in artillery capability.
