A Lieutenant Colonel formerly stationed at Dagshai Cantonment in Himachal Pradesh has come under scrutiny after being booked by Dharampur police for allegedly possessing forged identification documents and an unlicensed firearm. An FIR was filed on July 6 following a complaint from a junior commissioned officer at the same cantonment.
The officer now faces serious allegations, including cheating, forgery, and illegal possession of a firearm, in violation of Section 25 of the Arms Act. The inquiry began after army officials conducted a routine inspection on August 23, 2023, during which they discovered a 12-bore gun alongside various suspicious documents in the officer’s possession. Among the objects recovered were a driving license, Aadhaar card, and PAN card, all displaying his photograph but issued under a different name.
In a subsequent court of inquiry, military investigators found that the Lieutenant Colonel had orchestrated the creation of multiple sets of fraudulent documents under the alias “Mustafa,” albeit with his own image. The existence of these counterfeit identity documents raises alarming questions regarding impersonation, the misuse of military privileges, and significant security risks.
Currently, local police are collaborating with military authorities to advance the investigation. Further developments are anticipated, particularly following forensic examinations of the seized documents and firearm, which may provide additional insights into the extent of the alleged misconduct. The case continues to unfold, reflecting serious implications for military integrity and protocol.
