Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, recently conducted a visit to the Jodhpur Sub Area to evaluate its operational preparedness and the array of readiness initiatives currently in place.

During his assessment, Lt Gen Seth focused on the formation’s logistics, ammunition management, and all sustainment mechanisms that are essential for meeting the diverse operational commitments of the military. He took particular note of the exemplary performance demonstrated during Operation SINDOOR, specifically commending the efficient management of ammunition logistics through various crucial entities including Ammunition Echelons, the Field Ammunition Depot (FAD), Supply Depots, and the Advanced Base Ordnance Depot (ABOD).

Emphasizing the importance of logistics and operational readiness, Lt Gen Seth commended the formation for its ability to streamline both logistics and administrative processes. He pointed out that a strong sustainment system is a vital enabler of combat effectiveness, a sentiment that resonates deeply within military strategy.

Additionally, the Army Commander highlighted the high level of preparedness for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, praising collaborative initiatives executed in conjunction with central and state agencies. He described these efforts as a prime example of effective military-civil fusion, which has successfully produced tangible outcomes in the community.

Further underlining the importance of social responsibility, Lt Gen Seth expressed his appreciation for various initiatives aimed at enhancing the Soldier–Citizen connection. These include outreach programs for veterans and the accelerated completion of important infrastructure projects. He stated that such initiatives not only bolster public trust but also uplift the morale of personnel, ultimately contributing positively to nation-building alongside traditional military duties.

This visit reinforces the Southern Command’s commitment to maintaining operational readiness, robust logistical frameworks, effective civil-military cooperation, and initiatives that prioritize the welfare of people—ensuring that military formations are well-equipped to address both security challenges and humanitarian responsibilities effectively.
