Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, the General Officer Commanding of the Spear Corps, recently undertook a crucial visit to forward areas and significant military garrisons in Manipur, aimed at assessing the evolving security landscape, operational readiness, and ongoing initiatives to enhance military capabilities.

During this strategic visit, Lt Gen Kalia conducted an aerial reconnaissance of regions impacted by recent clashes to gain insight into the prevailing security dynamics. He made stops at forward Army locations, including Kangvai, Sendra, Litan, and YKPI, where he engaged directly with commanders and troops on the ground. The General commended the personnel for their unwavering professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to preserving peace and stability in the area.

Accompanying Lt Gen Kalia were the Inspector General of the Assam Rifles (South) and other senior military officials. Together, they visited the Somsai and Kakching Garrisons, where they reviewed counter-insurgency operations and emphasized the importance of coordination among various security agencies. The discussions also focused on initiatives designed to improve operational effectiveness in sensitive regions, underlining the military’s commitment to adapting to local challenges.

A noteworthy aspect of the visit was his engagement with troops at the Red Shield Drone Lab at the Leimakhong Military Station, as well as the Drone Training Laboratory in Kakching. Lt Gen Kalia observed firsthand the indigenous advancements in drone technology, including assembly and repair processes, along with specialized training in drone warfare. This focus on enhancing aerial surveillance and operational capacity in difficult terrains demonstrates a proactive approach to modern military challenges.

The Corps Commander expressed his appreciation for the technical skills and innovative spirit demonstrated by the troops, highlighting their readiness to incorporate modern warfare technologies into their operations.
