Lieutenant General Pawan Chadha Reviews Infrastructure and Training Advancements at Nashik Artillery Centre

Lieutenant General Pawan Chadha, the General Officer Commanding of the Maharashtra and Gujarat Area, recently visited the Artillery Centre in Nashik to assess several key infrastructure and training advancements designed to enhance operational readiness and troop welfare.

During his visit, Lt Gen Chadha inaugurated a state-of-the-art Rehabilitation and Fitness Centre specifically tailored for Agniveer trainees. This new facility was developed in response to findings from an Army health report indicating that recovery-related issues impacted nearly 15% of new recruits. The centre aims to effectively manage and prevent long-term sports-related injuries, thereby playing a vital role in strengthening physical resilience and ensuring sustained combat readiness among the troops.

In addition to the rehabilitation centre, Lt Gen Chadha inspected advanced simulator-based training setups that signify a technological leap in artillery training. A report from the Journal of Defense Studies highlights that such simulators have led to a remarkable 30% increase in combat efficiency among trainees. During his tour, the General engaged with instructors, commending their efforts in blending modern technology with traditional training methods.

This visit underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to innovation and sustainable practices, as reflected in its broader vision under Southern Command. The focus on modernizing training facilities runs parallel to national initiatives, such as the recent opening of India’s first geothermal net-zero military building in Jhansi, which showcases a commitment to ecological sustainability alongside operational efficiency.

Military officials in Nashik expressed their appreciation for these upgrades, emphasizing that these developments will solidify the Artillery Centre’s reputation as one of Asia’s premier training establishments. The strategic positioning of the Centre, adjacent to the Deolali Cantonment Board and the Combat Army Aviation Training School, further enhances the significance of the ongoing improvements.
