Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, recently conducted a high-level review of counter-terrorism operations in South Kashmir, marking a significant step in regional security efforts. This visit followed the successful Operation Guddar, during which security forces neutralized two highly trained terrorists in the dense Guddar forest of Kulgam.
During his visit, Lt Gen Sharma took the opportunity to felicitate personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) for their exemplary contributions to the operation. This operation showcased the effectiveness of collaborative efforts among the Indian Army, JKP, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), emphasizing the importance of joint operations in combating terrorism.
A pivotal aspect of the review was the presentation of innovations and AI-driven technologies developed by the troops. This development underscores the Army’s increasing integration of modern technology into military operations. Reports indicate that these innovations have improved operational efficiency by nearly 20%, as per recent defense studies.
In his address, Lt Gen Sharma commended the professionalism and ingenuity displayed by the military personnel and encouraged them to remain steadfast in the face of evolving challenges within the region. His visit could not have come at a more critical time, given the heightened security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in areas that remain susceptible to infiltration and militant activity.
The Northern Command chief reiterated the Army’s unwavering commitment to ensuring stability along India’s borders with both Pakistan and China. He highlighted the strategic importance of South Kashmir within the broader context of national security, signaling that vigilance and proactive measures will be paramount as the region faces ongoing threats.
