Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, recently visited forward areas in the Poonch and Sunderbani sectors. The purpose of his visit was to review the operational preparedness and evaluate the evolving security scenario along the Line of Control (LoC).
During his time in the region, Lt Gen Sharma engaged with troops stationed in High Altitude Areas, praising their unwavering dedication and professionalism. He noted the challenges they face in maintaining operational readiness and commended their efforts under such demanding conditions.
A significant aspect of the visit included an interaction with the newly raised ASHNI Platoon. Here, he examined the latest advancements in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) capabilities. These technological enhancements are aimed at bolstering surveillance and precision strike operations, crucial for the effectiveness of military engagements.
Lt Gen Sharma expressed appreciation for the troops’ commitment to high operational standards, particularly in enhancing situational awareness and integrating modern technology into their warfare strategies. He acknowledged the formations for maintaining strong surveillance networks and rapid response capabilities, which are essential in addressing evolving threats in the area.
