Lt Gen CG Muralidharan Takes Over as Director General of Medical Services (Army)

Lt Gen CG Muralidharan has officially taken over the role of Director General of Medical Services (Army), marking a significant leadership change within the organization. He succeeds Lt Gen Sadhna S Nair, AVSM, VSM, who concluded her more than 40-year-long career dedicated to serving the nation on 30 September 2025.

A graduate of the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, Lt Gen Muralidharan joined the Army Medical Corps in 1987. With a specialization in radiology, he has built a remarkable career characterized by diverse operational, administrative, and instructional roles. His experiences across various medical positions in the Northern and Western theatres have equipped him with a wealth of knowledge in managing healthcare delivery amid challenging operational contexts.

In his new capacity, Lt Gen Muralidharan is expected to prioritize comprehensive healthcare for active military personnel, veterans, and their families. His agenda includes enhancing the medical readiness of forward positions, integrating advanced technologies into medical practices, and evolving medical support systems to align with contemporary warfare and security challenges.

Under Lt Gen Muralidharan’s stewardship, the Army Medical Corps is set to reinforce its unwavering commitment to providing top-tier healthcare for the Armed Forces community. The organization is guided by its foundational motto, “Sarve Santu Niramayah,” which translates to “May all be free from illness.” This ethos will continue to inspire the Corps’ pursuit of excellence in military medicine and the welfare of its personnel.
