Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar was appointed Vice Chief of the Army Staff on March 1, 2023. Lieutenant General BS Raju, who took command of the Jaipur-based Sapta Shakti Command today, was succeeded by the General officer.

Prior to taking over as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar was tenanting the appointment of Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) at Army HQ. In recent positions, he has gained experience in intelligence, operations, force structuring, operational logistics, and technology infusion.
The General Officer, a graduate of Sainik School Bijapur and the National Defence Academy, was commissioned into the 1 ASSAM REGIMENT in June 1985. On the Line of Control, he commanded the 59 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (ASSAM), an Infantry Brigade, and an Infantry Division, as well as the highly active White Knight Corps in Northern Command.
The General Officer has held a variety of staff and instructional positions, including teaching at the Infantry School, Mhow, Senior Operations Officer in the United Nations Sector in Cambodia, Colonel (Policy) in the Military Secretary Branch, Indian Army Training Team in Lesotho, Brigadier General Staff (Operations) of a Corps in the Eastern Theatre, Additional Director General Military Intelligence, and Director General Military Intelligence at Army HQ.
The officer has attended the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, Mhow, and the National Defence College in New Delhi. He has also taken courses in ‘South Asian Cooperative Security’ in Sri Lanka and ‘United Nations Senior Mission Leaders Course’ in Egypt. His military papers have appeared in a variety of professional journals.
