Maduro Accuses US of Fabricating War Amid Military Buildup in Caribbean

In a recent statement, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the United States of “fabricating a war” amid rising tensions in the Caribbean. His remarks follow the U.S. deployment of an aircraft carrier strike group intended to counteract drug-trafficking organizations in Latin America. Maduro expressed concern over what he described as an escalation of military presence in the region, claiming it signals an intent to create conflict.

“They are fabricating a new eternal war; they promised they would never again get involved in a war, and they are fabricating a war that we are going to prevent,” Maduro stated during a broadcast on state media. His comments reflect the apprehensions in Venezuela regarding U.S. military activities close to its borders.

The Pentagon’s announcement detailing the aircraft carrier deployment indicated that this is part of a broader military strategy initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump in September. This military campaign reportedly includes advanced aircraft and naval ships, marking a significant escalation in U.S. military operations against what they term “narco-terrorists.”

Reports have emerged of U.S. strikes on at least 10 vessels, which governments and families assert were primarily occupied by civilians, including fishermen. As a result, over 40 individuals have reportedly lost their lives in these operations.

Adding to the regional tensions, Washington revealed plans for joint military exercises with Trinidad and Tobago, scheduled to happen off the Venezuelan coast. The USS Gravely destroyer is set to dock in Port of Spain later this month, where U.S. Marines will conduct joint training missions with the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force.

As the situation unfolds, concerns about potential conflict in the region are growing, with global observers keeping a close watch on U.S. military maneuvers and the responses from Venezuela and its allies.
