A distinguished alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Major General Shah brings a wealth of operational experience and significant exposure to joint and integrated military operations. The Andaman & Nicobar Command is tasked with safeguarding India’s strategic interests in the eastern Indian Ocean Region. Major General Shah’s appointment comes at a time when the command is increasingly vital for overseeing joint operations involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force. His leadership is expected to emphasize the importance of inter-service coordination, ensuring operational readiness and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the command.
This new chapter represents a continuity in leadership, with an emphasis on enhancing jointness, responsiveness, and mission preparedness in a maritime domain that carries significant strategic implications for India. Major General Shah’s appointment is anticipated to reinforce critical defense initiatives and strengthen the collaborative efforts of the tri-services in the region.
