Major Sandeep Singh Reyal Awarded COAS Commendation Card for Service in Bhutan

In a remarkable recognition of his dedication and outstanding service, Major Sandeep Singh Reyal has been awarded the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card by General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Indian Army. This honor acknowledges Maj. Reyal’s exceptional contributions during his deployment in Bhutan.

Based in Nurpur town, Major Reyal served as a specialist dental officer with the Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT) stationed in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. During his two-year tenure, he delivered crucial dental care to a variety of high-profile individuals, including members of the Bhutanese Royal family, various ministers, foreign diplomats, and local citizens. His skilled and compassionate approach has garnered accolades not only from the local community and the Royal Bhutan Army but also from his peers in the Indian Army.

Major Reyal’s selection for this prestigious role was the result of a rigorous evaluation process at Army Headquarters in March 2023, leading to his assignment in July of the same year. IMTRAT, India’s oldest overseas military training mission, has been instrumental in training personnel from the Royal Bhutan Army and Royal Bodyguard since its establishment in the early 1960s.

An alumnus of the Government Dental College in Shimla, Major Reyal holds a postgraduate degree in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. His commitment to military service began in December 2016 when he was commissioned into the Army Dental Corps after achieving an impressive All India Rank of 22 in the Short Service Commission entrance examination. Throughout his career, he has served in some of the country’s most challenging regions, including Leh, Siachen, New Delhi, Lucknow, and Sukna in West Bengal.

As Major Reyal prepares to return to India next month following the completion of his overseas assignment, his exemplary service has brought a sense of pride to his hometown and stands as a source of inspiration for many aspiring medical professionals and service members alike. He embodies the values of dedication, clinical expertise, and humanitarian service that the Indian Army strives to uphold.
