14 Naval Officers passed out of Military Institute of Technology Pune today on successful completion of Naval Technical Staff Course-39. Air Cmde Shashi Kant Dy Commandant and Chief Instructor MILIT presented trophies & certificates to prize winners.

Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), Pune is an engineering inter-services training institution of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of India. It trains officers of the three Services of Indian Armed Forces and officers from friendly foreign countries for command and staff appointments.

Military Institute of Technology (MILIT) was established on 19 Jan 12 when it was carved out of Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a Deemed University and grants-in-aid institution under DRDO. MILIT continued to function under HQ DRDO from 2012 to 31 Mar 15 and then was constituted as an Armed Forces Training Institute (AFTI) under HQ IDS wef 01 Apr 15. MILIT is co-located at Girinagar, Pune and was functioning as 52nd lab of DRDO prior to its transfer to HQ IDS. Transfer of MILIT from DRDO HQ to HQ IDS was achieved post protracted interactions with DRDO HQ, DIAT (DI) and MoD.

MILIT is headed by Commandant who is Major General or equivalent rank officer on rotation basis from the three services for duration of two years. The present Comdt, Maj Gen Hari Singh, VSM took over the assignment from Air Vice Marshal Vivek Rajhans, VSM on 01 Feb 21.
