On Saturday, May 23, 207 trainees comprising Midshipmen of 104 Indian Naval Academy Course, cadets of 37 Naval Orientation Course (Regular), 37 Naval Orientation Course (Coast Guard), 33, 34, and 35 Naval Orientation Course (Extended) passed out with flying colours, marking the culmination of their ab-initio training at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. The graduating trainees are made up of eight foreign cadets from six different countries: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Madagascar, Mauritius, and the Maldives

On completion of the Ceremonial Review, Chief Guest Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, RSP**, USP, NDU, PSC, Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy, reviewed the Parade and distributed medals to meritorious Midshipmen and Cadets. Mrs Mala Lamahewa, President of the Sri Lanka Navy Seva Vanitha, escorted the Chief Guest. The Conducting Officer was Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, PVSM, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command. The event was attended by Vice Admiral Puneet K Bahl, AVSM, VSM, Commandant, Indian Naval Academy, and Mrs Anjali Bahl, President, NWWA Ezhimala.
The successful trainees marched through the Academy’s Quarterdeck in Slow March, with their dazzling swords and guns held in salute, to the traditional strains of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ – the sorrowful parting melody played by armed troops. The stripes of graduating trainees were sent by the Reviewing Officer, Conducting Officer, Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy, and other dignitaries. They met with the graduating trainees and their parents over high tea and congratulated them on completing the hard course successfully. These officers will be assigned to various Naval ships and installations to further their education in particular disciplines.
