On September 7, 2024, the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai witnessed a grand and proud moment during the Passing Out Parade (POP) for SSC-118, SSC (W)-32, and equivalent courses. The event was reviewed by Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS). It was a magnificent display of discipline, precision, and the high level of training that the Officer Cadets underwent. The parade was a testament to their dedication, pride, and commitment to serving the nation.
The parade saw 297 Officer Cadets, including 39 women, being commissioned into the prestigious Indian Army. In addition, 15 Officer Cadets from friendly foreign nations, including five women, successfully completed their rigorous training at OTA Chennai. This cohort of international cadets highlights the Academy’s role in fostering bonds of camaraderie and cooperation beyond borders, a testament to the growing international military relationships.
During the ceremony, Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani complimented the newly commissioned officers and their proud parents, recognizing the unique honor of joining the armed forces. He emphasized the importance of duty and dedication, encouraging the young officers to uphold the highest traditions and ethos of the Indian Army while striving to be exemplary leaders in their future careers.
The Pipping Ceremony, one of the highlights of the day, saw the VCOAS personally pinning the ranks on some of the Gentleman and Lady Cadets, marking their formal induction into the Indian Army as commissioned officers. It was a moment of immense pride for the cadets and their families, symbolizing the beginning of their journey as leaders and defenders of the nation.
In addition to the celebrations, Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani and the newly commissioned officers paid homage to the fallen heroes at the OTA Chennai War Memorial during a solemn wreath-laying ceremony. The Officer Cadets joined their reviewing officer in honoring the Bravehearts, marking the day with a deep sense of respect and gratitude for those who laid down their lives in service to the country.
