The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR as part of its continuing investigation into Pakistan Nationals working in the Indian Army using forged identity credentials.
CBI FIR Against Pakistan Nationals Attempt Joining Indian Army
The FIR names two individuals (Pakistan Nationals): Raju Gupta and Mahendra Adhikari. The FIR also names unnamed government employees who allegedly assisted the conspirators in obtaining posts in the Indian Army using falsified documents.
Following a Calcutta High Court decision, the CBI is initiating an investigation. On August 2, the CBI informed the Calcutta High Court’s single-judge bench of Justice Jay Sengupta that, while there was no conclusive proof in the matter as of yet, the possibility of such recruitments could not be ruled out based on preliminary investigations.
The CBI also informed the court that international investigating organisations such as INTERPOL may be called in to help with the inquiry. On June 13, a person named Bishnu Chowdhury filed a plea before the bench of Justice Rajasekhar Mantha. Justice Mantha issued the initial instruction to the CBI to begin a probe into the subject.
Later, he was elevated to the division bench, and the case was referred to Justice Sengupta’s bench. Chowdhury claimed in his appeal that the two Pakistani nationals were selected through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examination and obtained jobs by presenting fraudulent credentials.
He further said that such appointments are the result of a massive racket involving powerful political leaders, bureaucrats, and police personnel who use fake documents. Justice Sengupta then asked the police to secure the petitioner’s safety, citing the fact that he has faced life threats since filing the PIL.
