This project, named Thunderforge, is set to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance decision-making processes and operational effectiveness within the U.S. military.
Thunderforge will utilize AI-driven modeling and simulation tools capable of processing enormous amounts of data, allowing military leaders to make informed decisions more quickly and efficiently. The initiative will also incorporate AI-enhanced wargaming techniques, which are designed to help soldiers better anticipate and effectively respond to evolving threats on the battlefield.
In a statement, the DIU emphasized that “Thunderforge marks a decisive shift toward AI-powered, data-driven warfare,” underlining the necessity for U.S. forces to adapt swiftly and accurately to modern threats. Initially, Thunderforge will be deployed with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM), with plans to extend its application to other combatant commands in the future.
