The President of India and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Droupadi Murmu, made an insightful visit to the Headquarters of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla today. This significant engagement not only underscores the government’s focus on military preparedness but also highlights the evolving strategies in defense training.
Upon her arrival, President Murmu was warmly received by Kavinder Gupta and Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, who provided her with a comprehensive briefing on the current landscape of military training and modernization initiatives within the Indian Army.
During the briefing, key points of evolution and the pivotal role of ARTRAC in shaping the training framework for the Indian Army were discussed. Emphasis was placed on various initiatives aimed at boosting operational efficiency and ensuring the army’s readiness to face contemporary challenges. The incorporation of modern technologies into military training methodologies was a focal point, as leaders outlined how these innovations are integral to the army’s future capabilities.
Among the initiatives highlighted were advancements in drone training and integration, introducing ‘Red Teaming’ concepts that simulate adversarial tactics, and an ongoing push towards digitization and automation in training processes. The emphasis on adopting niche and emerging technologies showcases a strategic foresight in preparing for future warfare.
The contributions of ARTRAC to military excellence were also underscored, with discussions detailing the command’s role in designing warfighting doctrines and concepts and providing comprehensive training through its network of 32 premier institutions. Additionally, ARTRAC’s collaborative engagements with friendly foreign countries and sister services were noted as instrumental in fostering a robust defensive framework.
In her remarks, President Murmu expressed her appreciation for ARTRAC’s critical role in strengthening India’s military capabilities. She emphasized that the initiatives taken by ARTRAC are essential for achieving the visions of Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) and Viksit Bharat (developed India). Urging a continued focus on enhancing operational preparedness, she interacted with senior military leadership to discuss improvements in training systems aimed at fortifying national security.
Furthermore, the President took a moment to commend the dedication of all ranks at ARTRAC as well as the contributions of defense civilians to national security. Her acknowledgment serves as a morale booster and reinforces the importance of individual and collective effort in the pursuit of a stronger, more secure India.
