Rafael USA has unveiled its latest innovation, the L-SPIKE 4X Launched Effect, enhancing its SPIKE family of weapons with a focus on operational effectiveness in contested environments. This new loitering munition distinguishes itself from traditional systems, which are often adapted from unmanned aerial vehicles. Instead, the L-SPIKE 4X is designed from the ground up as a missile, integrating loitering capabilities to optimize combat effectiveness.
The L-SPIKE 4X boasts impressive range and versatility, with the ability to engage targets at distances of up to 40 kilometers (approximately 25 miles). This capability allows for deployment in a variety of operational scenarios, ensuring that forces can strike with precision from significant ranges. Furthermore, the new weapon is compatible with legacy SPIKE Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) launchers, enhancing its usability across various air, land, and naval platforms.
Rafael’s innovation marks a significant step in the evolution of loitering munitions, as it combines high-speed capabilities typically seen in missile systems with the endurance required for effective loitering, suitable for complex battlefield environments. This development is expected to empower military forces with enhanced tactical options and operational flexibility in modern warfare.
