Raj Kumar Arora appointed as Controller General of Defence Accounts

Raj Kumar Arora, a seasoned 1990-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), has officially taken on the role of Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA). This significant appointment in the realm of defence financial administration comes at a crucial time, as Shri Arora brings a wealth of experience in various financial disciplines, including policy formulation, auditing, accounting, budgeting, procurement, and personnel management.

Throughout his exemplary career, Shri Arora has held multiple important positions within the Government of India. His previous roles include serving as Additional Secretary at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Finance Manager (Air) in the Ministry of Defence’s Acquisition Wing, and Director in the Ministry of Finance. Moreover, he has worked as the Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA) in several commands and field offices under the Defence Accounts Department.

One of his notable contributions was during his tenure at the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), where he served as Member (Finance). In this capacity, he played an instrumental role in enhancing financial oversight and spearheading modernization initiatives within India’s defence production sector.

As CGDA, Shri Arora steps into the apex position within the Defence Accounts Department, which is pivotal for managing the financial affairs of India’s Armed Forces. His responsibilities will encompass supervising defence expenditures, overseeing audits, and providing financial advisory services across the Ministry of Defence.
