In a remarkable display of resilience and determination, Major Nitish Kumar Singh (Retd), a former officer of the Indian Army and alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), has successfully passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination for 2025, achieving an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 305.
Major Singh, hailing from Begusarai in Bihar, faced life-altering challenges after being gravely injured during an anti-terror operation in Shopian, South Kashmir, while serving in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) in 2017. His injuries, incurred in the line of duty, could have deterred many, but he displayed remarkable determination and courage in reorienting his life toward a new form of service.
Despite the obstacles in his path, Major Singh undertook rigorous preparation for one of the most competitive examinations in the country. His hard work and perseverance paid off as he secured a coveted spot in the civil services, and he is now set to embark on a new chapter by training at the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie.
