The Russian military announced the capture of two additional villages in southern Ukraine, signaling incremental territorial gains in a region where Ukrainian forces are reportedly outnumbered. According to a statement made on Telegram by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the villages of Rivnopillia and Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region are now under Russian control.
While the Zaporizhzhia frontline is noted to be less active compared to the intense fighting occurring in eastern Ukraine, Russian troops have been noted to be better equipped and more numerous than Ukrainian forces, allowing them to make advances in both the southern and eastern fronts.
In the east, combat efforts are heavily focused on the strategic logistical hub of Pokrovsk, a location that has seen an influx of Russian soldiers over recent weeks. This continued infiltration is believed to have significantly weakened Ukrainian defenses, raising concerns about their ability to hold critical positions.
Amid the ongoing military actions, peace discussions between Ukraine and Russia appear to be at a standstill. A planned summit in Budapest between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has also been canceled, further complicating efforts toward a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
