Seventy-one cadets from the Army Cadet College (ACC) Wing of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) celebrated their graduation on Friday, completing three years of rigorous academic and military training. The ceremony took place at the IMA Auditorium in Dehradun and was presided over by IMA Commandant, Lt Gen Nagendra Singh. He awarded bachelor’s degrees to the graduates, marking a significant milestone in their journey toward becoming commissioned officers.
In his address, Lt Gen Singh extended his congratulations to the cadets, emphasizing the vital attributes of character, discipline, courage, motivation, a positive mindset, and professional competence. He reiterated that these qualities are foundational for exemplary military leadership, reinforcing the values crucial for their future roles in the Indian Army.
The academic degrees awarded during the ceremony were conferred by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Among the graduates, 30 cadets specialized in the Science stream, while 41 focused on Humanities, completing the 126th course of the ACC Wing. Following graduation, these cadets are set to join the IMA in January for a one-year pre-commissioning training program.
Several cadets were recognized for their exceptional performances. Wing Cadet Captain Hari Keshar Wagle was honored with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gold Medal, while Wing Cadet Quarter Master Sagar Uppal and Wing Cadet Adjutant Kulvinder received the COAS Silver and Bronze Medals, respectively. Additional accolades included the Commandant’s Silver Medals, awarded to Company Cadet Captain Bhavya Chauhan for the Service Stream, Cadet Captain Hari Keshar Wagle for Humanities, and Wing Cadet Quarter Master Sagar Uppal for Science.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Commandant’s Banner to Kargil Company, which emerged as the champion company, showcasing exemplary performance across various domains such as sports, physical training, weapon handling, academics, debates, and service subjects.
This graduation marks an essential step for the cadets as they prepare to be commissioned into the Indian Army, a transition celebrated by their families, instructors, and peers, marking the culmination of their hard work and determination.
