Who Can Apply for TGC 142?

Eligibility Criteria

  • Gender & Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates.
  • Nationality:
    • Indian citizens, OR
    • Citizens of Nepal, OR
    • Persons of Indian origin who migrated from select countries with the intent of permanently settling in India (with eligibility certificate, if required).

Age Limit

  • Candidates must be 20 to 27 years old as of 01 January 2026.
  • Acceptable birth range: 02 January 1999 to 01 January 2006 (both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification

  • Must have completed or be in the final year of an Engineering degree (BE/B.Tech) in eligible disciplines.
  • Final year students must submit proof of passing the degree by 01 January 2026.
  • Candidates whose results are due after this date are not eligible.

Selection Process for TGC 142

  1. Shortlisting of Applications
    • Based on minimum cut-off percentage for each engineering discipline.
  2. SSB Interview
    • Centres: Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bangalore, Jalandhar

      • Stage I: Screening (includes verbal, non-verbal, and PPDT)
      • Stage II: Psychology Tests, Group Tasks, and Personal Interview
  3. Medical Examination
    • Candidates recommended by SSB will undergo a thorough medical checkup.
  4. Final Merit List
    • Based on SSB performance.
