In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, a Class 7 student at Sainik School in East Siang has reportedly died under distressing circumstances, prompting serious allegations of bullying and harassment. The victim, identified as Haro, was the younger brother of Tadu Lunia, who holds the title of Miss Arunachal 2024. In an emotional video shared on social media, Tadu expressed her anguish and raised serious concerns about the treatment her brother endured prior to his death.

Initially, school authorities conveyed to the family that Haro had died by suicide. However, after consulting with his classmates and dormitory friends, Tadu Lunia uncovered alarming details suggesting a much darker narrative involving harassment and physical abuse. According to her claims, the bullying reportedly occurred on the night of October 31, when a group of eleven senior students—eight from Class 10 and three from Class 8—allegedly entered the Class 7 dormitory when no staff members were present.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that Haro was subjected to a horrific ordeal, where he was forced to remain awake and faced physical and mental torment for several hours. Tadu described the harrowing scene, stating, “Nobody knows what happened behind that closed door,” reflecting the profound grief and helplessness experienced by the family.

In her heartfelt appeal, Tadu urged the community of Arunachal Pradesh to rally behind them in their quest for justice, emphasizing the urgent need for action to prevent similar incidents from affecting other families. “I lost my brother today — it could be anyone’s tomorrow if we don’t take the right steps now,” she stated, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

In response to the allegations, the Arunachal Pradesh Police have opened an investigation, registering a case under charges of abetment to suicide. Authorities have apprehended eight students, all of whom are minors, and they were presented to the Juvenile Justice Board in Pasighat. These students are currently in the custody of the school’s vice principal for a week as the investigation continues.

The case has ignited widespread public outrage throughout the state, with many calling for stronger anti-ragging laws and accountability from the educational institution’s leadership. Community members and advocacy groups are demanding enhanced scrutiny and oversight of residential schools to safeguard students’ well-being and prevent futures from being marred by tragedy.

The investigation remains ongoing, with law enforcement focused on gathering more evidence to piece together the series of events leading to Haro’s untimely death. The situation has left a community in mourning and underscores the pressing concerns regarding bullying and safety in schools.
