Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has introduced its largest unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) to date, developed by the domestic company Ukrainian Armor. This advanced vehicle, named the PROTECTOR, is specifically engineered to support frontline operations and perform logistical tasks under various weather conditions and terrains.
The PROTECTOR showcases impressive specifications, including a substantial payload capacity of 700 kilograms (approximately 1,543 pounds), making it capable of carrying significant loads for military and support activities. Its operational range extends up to 400 kilometers (around 249 miles), allowing it to cover considerable distances without requiring frequent recharges or refuels.
One of the key features that set the PROTECTOR apart is its internal combustion engine, designed to enhance its cross-country capabilities. This design choice aims to ensure the UGV can navigate through challenging landscapes, enabling it to assist troops effectively in diverse environments.
The vehicle’s development was informed by real combat experiences of Ukrainian forces, underscoring a practical approach to modern military technology that takes into account the specific needs of the armed forces.
