Ukrainian-German joint venture Quantum Frontline Industries (QFI) has announced the commencement of deliveries of its flagship Linza tactical drones to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This pivotal development follows the successful completion of the initial production tranche, with QFI setting an ambitious target of producing over 10,000 drones annually.
The company anticipates an increase in both output and deliveries throughout the year, in response to growing operational demands. However, further details regarding the specific order or delivery timelines remain undisclosed, a precaution taken for operational security reasons.
This achievement comes less than a year after the formation of QFI in December 2022, a collaboration between Ukraine’s Frontline Robotics and Germany’s Quantum Systems. Established under Ukraine’s “Build with Ukraine” initiative, the venture is designed to localize the development of tactical equipment with the backing of international partners, with most assembly operations taking place in Bavaria, Germany.
Mykyta Rozhkov, Chief Business Development Officer at Frontline Robotics, emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting the tactical unmanned aerial vehicle needs of Ukrainian forces effectively. “We are focused on delivering systems that perform reliably in real operations while maintaining stable and predictable supply on our side,” he stated. He also expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including the Ministries of Defence of Ukraine and Germany, for their support in this endeavor.
The Linza drone, a notable product of QFI, measures 10 inches (25 centimeters) and can carry payloads of up to 2 kilograms (4 pounds), along with being equipped with electronic warfare capabilities. It features a stabilized camera, thermal imager, and a communications module that enables a control link of up to 100 meters (328 feet) from the operators.
In terms of operational performance, the Linza drone is capable of achieving flight speeds of up to 15 meters (52 feet) per second, with a range of 10 kilometers (6 miles). The drone is also delivered with a comprehensive ground control station suite, which includes an 8-meter (26-foot) mast, a control tablet, spare parts, and dedicated stations for remote piloting and battery charging.
As QFI continues to scale its production and streamline deliveries, the developments mark a significant contribution to enhancing the tactical capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in their ongoing operational context.
