US Army Acquires Tactical Mapping Drones from EagleNXT

The US Army has successfully procured advanced tactical mapping drones from EagleNXT through its German partner, Dronivo GmbH. The acquisition includes six eBee TAC drones, each equipped with high-caliber S.O.D.A. 3D cameras and Duet M sensors designed for both normal and multispectral imaging. Notably, these drones feature activated RTK/PPK capabilities, ensuring high-precision positioning in various operational environments.

These advanced systems are capable of generating maps with centimeter-level accuracy, producing detailed 3D models, and functioning efficiently in remote or challenging terrains without the need for extensive ground control points. “We are proud to answer the Department of War’s call for streamlined UAS acquisition,” commented Bill Irby, CEO of EagleNXT. He emphasized the importance of having NDAA-compliant and Blue UAS-listed technology to support Army missions, highlighting the company’s commitment to improving the delivery timelines for drone orders.

The eBee TAC drone itself is a hand-launched, fixed-wing unmanned aerial system designed with digital camouflage, allowing it to operate with reduced visibility. With a takeoff weight of just 1.6 kilograms (3.5 pounds) and an impressive endurance of up to 90 minutes, the drone boasts a flight range of 55 kilometers (34 miles).

The potential applications of the eBee TAC in military operations are extensive, including border surveillance, reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, mapping for operational planning, search and rescue missions, counterinsurgency operations, and supporting training and simulation activities.

This acquisition marks the latest collaboration between the US Army and EagleNXT’s systems, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing its technological capabilities. In a previous engagement in November 2025, the Army procured three eBee VISION unmanned aerial systems for training exercises at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Germany.
