The US Army has secured a significant contract with Danish firm MyDefence, valued at $26 million, to supply over 400 counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) aimed at detecting and tracking various drone threats. This marks the largest order MyDefence has received to date.
Under this agreement, a total of 485 wearable C-UAS systems will be integrated into US Army operations, particularly within the US European Command (EUCOM) and across other combatant commands globally. Recently, about 15 of these systems were put to use by EUCOM during joint military exercises in Germany, showcasing the capabilities of mounted counter-drone technologies in real-world scenarios.
The MyDefence system, referred to as the Soldier-Kit, is designed for ease of use and portability. It includes the “Wingman” drone detector for real-time scanning and “Pitbull” jammers aimed at precisely disrupting identified threats. Weighing in at just 1.3 kilograms (2.8 pounds), the console can be easily attached to tactical gear, stored in a bag, or concealed within a combat uniform, thus enhancing troop mobility.
William Ostrowski, CEO of MyDefence North America, emphasized the company’s dedication to long-term collaboration with US defense entities and the importance of delivering high-performance systems tailored to the evolving threat landscape. He acknowledged the increasing reliance on unmanned aerial systems in operational environments, highlighting that extensive testing has demonstrated MyDefence’s products to be reliable, adaptable, and mission-ready. This, he noted, will significantly bolster force protection and allow military units to operate with greater confidence in contested airspace.
