The Western Naval Command recently hosted a significant event aimed at improving the coordination of warship trials and acceptance processes within the Indian Navy. The inaugural NATAA–WOT Conclave took place on March 25, 2026, under the auspices of the Naval Trials and Acceptance Authority (NATAA) and Warship Overseeing Teams (WOT).
Co-chaired by Rear Admiral Sanjay Adhana and Rear Admiral Sujit Baxi, Director General Warship Design Bureau, the conclave utilized video conferencing to facilitate participation. The event brought together delegates from various sectors, including the Warship Design Bureau, production directorates at Naval Headquarters, trial teams, and WOTs from across the Navy, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the meeting.
Aiming to enhance synergy between trial units and overseeing teams, the conclave set its sights on ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality, combat-ready naval platforms. This objective aligns closely with the Indian Navy’s broader mission to establish a “combat-ready, credible, cohesive, and future-ready force” capable of safeguarding national maritime interests at all times.
Key discussions during the event centered around several critical areas: improving workmanship standards, addressing design-related challenges, rationalizing inspection and trial procedures, and streamlining the acceptance processes for newly constructed warships. These deliberations are crucial in the context of maintaining operational readiness and bolstering the Navy’s capabilities.
The conclave serves as a testament to the Indian Navy’s ongoing commitment to strengthening indigenous shipbuilding processes.
