Indian Army is not just a job. It is a service. Previously, only males of this country had shown a lot of interest in joining the Army. But the stories of Jhansi Laxmi Bai, Rani Rudrama Devi, Jijabai and many more have proven time to time to the Indian and the world population that women are no less than men. If given an opportunity, they can be as ferocious as a lion and can also be as loving as a mother. Pertaining to these exquisite qualities a woman has and her efforts in making this world a better place to live in along with their male counterparts, the Indian Army began inducting women officers in non-medical roles since 1992. But now, what is the situation with their role in various commissions is something mentioned below. Here are the regiments of the Indian Army where women are inducted for various roles:

The regiments in which women are not inducted in the Indian Army are:

  1. Regiment of Artillery
  2. Infantry
  3. Armoured Corps
  4. Mechanized Infantry Regiment
  5. Defence Security Corps
  6. Pioneer Corps
  7. As Aviators in Army Aviation Corps
  8. Special Forces.

Please note that women are allowed to be as Paratroopers, but they are not authorized in Parachute Regiment.

In the end, to sum up, all the information, I would mention that an officer is an officer irrespective of his or her gender. When the situation or the terrain demands. They will go for sure and will make our country proud.

Will update more regarding this information if anything is found. As of now, all the female candidates out there, keep your fire lit and make the nation proud. All the Best.

Jai Hind.
