61st Foundation Day of NCERT

  • The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is an autonomous organization of the Government of India which was established in 1961 as a literary, scientific, and charitable Society under the Societies’ Registration Act.
  • The NCERT was established with the agenda to design and support a common system of education which is national in character and enables and encourages the diverse culture across the country.
  • Based on the recommendations of the Education Commission (1964-66), the first national policy statement on education was issued in 1968.
  • The policy endorsed the adoption of a uniform pattern of school education across the country consisting of 10 years of general education program followed by 2 years of diversified schooling.
  • Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will be addressing 61st Foundation Day of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to celebrate today.

125th Birth Anniversary of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami

  • PM will release a special commemorative coin of 125 rupees and address the gathering on the 125th Birth Anniversary of Swami Prabhupada Ji.
  • Swamiji founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness ISKCON commonly known as the “Hare Krishna movement”. ISKCON has translated Shrimad Bhagvad Geeta and other Vedic literature in 89 languages, playing a stellar role in dissemination of Vedic literature across the world.
  • Swami ji also established over a hundred temples and wrote several books, teaching the path of Bhakti Yoga to the world.

POSHAN Maah

  • Women and Child Development Ministry will celebrate the POSHAN Maah across the nation throughout this September under the essential POSHAN Abhiyan.
  • Launched on 8 March 2018, POSHAN Abhiyaan, or National Nutrition Mission is the Government’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.
  • Further Mission Poshan 2.0 (Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0) was announced in the Budget 2021-2022.
  • The thematic approach being followed this year is divided into four parts:
  • Theme 1 (September 1-7) Plantation Activity as “PoshanVatika”
  • Theme 2 (September 8-15) Yoga and AYUSH for Nutrition
  • Theme 3 (16-23 September) Distribution of the ‘Regional Nutrition Kit’ to Anganwadi beneficiaries of High Burdened Districts
  • Theme 4 (24-30 September) will be about the Identification of Severe Acute Malnutrition children and the distribution of nutritious food.

International Astronomical Union

  • A Ladakh-based engineer has become the only Indian Honorary Member of the International Astronomical Union, along with ten others from around the world, joining a select list of 20 international experts.
  • Dorje Angchuk of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, an autonomous institute of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, is also the first Indian to bag the position in the prestigious body. This honor is meant to officially recognize those individuals who have significantly contributed to the progress of astronomical research and culture in their country.
  • The International Astronomical Union (IAU) is the foremost international association of professional astronomers and is over 100 years old. It has more than 13000 individual members and 82 national members, including India. The IAU is also the recognized authority for assigning names to stars, planets, asteroids, and so on.

E-GOPALA

  • E-GOPALA, the web version developed by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has been launched to aid dairy farmers. With it, the i-MAP web portal was also launched that provides real-time information to dairy farmers for better productivity of dairy animals.
  • E-Gopala app will be a digital medium that would help livestock owners to choose advanced livestock. This app will give all information related to productivity, health, and diet to the cattle owners.
